Our Club


White Rocks Yacht Club is a member of Yachting Club of America, Yacht Clubs of Maryland and Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club Association.

Some of our members belong to The Chesapeake Commodores Club, The International Order of the Blue Gavel and The Veterans Yacht Club Association.

• In 2012, White Rocks Yacht Club will be known as the home of the 2012 Chesapeake Commodores Club First Family as CCC Commodore Bob Davis is not only a member at WRYC but his family are all past commodores of WRYC. Wife Anna in 2003, Son Bobby Jr. in Y2K and daughter Karen not only in 2008 but she is also our 2012 Commodore.

• In 2011, WRYC celebrated our 50th Year in the Yacht Club Community. P/C Donald Monaghan severed as Commodore for his Third Year. Thank you to all who came out to celebrate with us. We lost our marina owner and Friend Harry Erbe.

• In 2009 we have changed the date of Our Opening Day Ceremony. Our opening is now held the Saturday of Father’s Day Weekend at Bodkin Yacht Club.

• In 2008 WRYC elected their fourth women Commodore and the Third Davis Family Member.

• In 1994 Donald Monaghan was elected Commodore and it started our “Stellar Year.” White Rocks received numerous plaques and awards, including Queen of the Chesapeake, Ms. Kelly McGonigal, King of the Chesapeake, 1996 P/C Bob Manders, and Queen of the Galley Slaves, Ms. Dana Clemens

• In 1987 White Rocks Yacht Club elected their First Women Commodore, Linda Reed.

• In 1981 The Pebbles dissolved and women joined the club.

• In 1961, 1981-1983 P/C Donald Reed along with several of our members obtained WRYC’s Charter and moved White Rocks to our current location on Nabb’s Creek. P/C Donald Reed is WRYC’s only Commodore to be elected Commodore three consecutive years. Back before women could actually become members of a yacht club White Rocks had a ladies auxiliary named The Pebbles.

• When White Rocks Yacht Club was formed, we were located at White Rocks Marina off Fort Smallwood Road. For Nine years our Opening Day Weekend was held at Bodkin Yacht Club on Mother’s Day Weekend.

The object of this club shall be to promote the education of the sciences of seamanship and navigation and to encourage the sport of yachting, sailing aquatics and boating in general for recreation and welfare of its members.
